Nurses with an ADN or a nursing diploma can quickly earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree through an online RN to BSN program. The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) offers an online RN to BSN program that students can complete in as few as 12 months. This program is designed for working nurses who have responsibilities outside of school. It is an affordable, accessible and flexible way to earn your BSN.

Complete Your BSN Quickly

Finish your degree quickly by following a plan. Depending on your educational background, you may be able to complete your degree in a year. A BSN degree requires foundational nursing and general education courses, in addition to more advanced nursing coursework. Many students beginning the program have already finished the general education classes for their BSN before starting the program. If you need more classes besides the nursing coursework, then you may need to spend more time in the program or you may need to enroll in these classes concurrently with your nursing classes.

Though it is possible to finish in one year, taking breaks between classes will lengthen the program, so keep that in mind if you prefer to take longer breaks between classes or go on vacation during the year. There are seven nursing courses, totaling 26 credit hours; this does not include any general education courses that may be required.

Reasons to Choose an RN to BSN Program

Working nurses who are looking to save time and money while advancing their careers may benefit from earning a degree through an online RN to BSN program. These programs bridge students from an ADN to a BSN in less time than a traditional BSN program may take, since the foundational nursing coursework and experience of RNs is taken into account. An online RN to BSN program can help students return to school on their own schedules and finish quickly.

RN to BSN programs can be completed quickly because they take advantage of the knowledge and nursing coursework that RNs already have. You can finish the UAH RN to BSN program in as little as one year. The program may take longer to complete if you need to take general education or co-requisite courses.
